FAQs
1. What makes your Black Mustard Oil different from regular mustard oil in the market?
Our oil is extracted without heat, chemicals, or additives. We use native black mustard seeds grown on fertile, soil-tested land. The oil is cold-extracted in small batches using a wooden press, preserving its medicinal properties and robust flavour.

2. What is wood-pressing?
Wood-pressing (also known as kachi ghani or cold pressing) is a slow, traditional method of extracting oil using a wooden churner or kolhu. Seeds are crushed at low temperatures ensuring that the oil retains its natural nutrients, aroma, and flavour.

3. What kind of mustard seeds do you use?
We use high-variety native black mustard seeds, grown in fertile, soil-tested fields.

4. Is your oil tested for quality or purity?
Yes. From seed sourcing to small-batch pressing, we follow strict hygiene and quality checks. Neither adulterants nor preservatives are used.

5. Does it have that strong, authentic mustard aroma?
Yes. That pungent aroma is the natural allyl isothiocyanate, a compound present in pure mustard seeds. It’s a sign of unadulterated, authentic black mustard oil, often lost in industrial processing.

6. Is it safe for cooking at high temperatures?
Yes. Black mustard oil has a high smoke point, making it excellent for deep frying, sautéing, tadka, and all types of Indian cooking in general. Unlike many refined oils, it doesn’t break down into harmful compounds when heated properly.

7. Can I use this oil raw, like in pickles or chutneys?
Absolutely. Just like our grandmothers did, you can use it raw after lightly heating it to temper the sharpness. It’s perfect for pickling, kanji, salad dressings, or even finishing dishes with a bold touch of flavour.

8. Is this mustard oil suitable for external use?
Yes. Traditionally used for joint massage, baby massage, and hair oiling, it improves circulation, helps with stiffness, and promotes strong hair growth. Warm slightly before applying for better absorption and comfort.
